PARISH CHOIR
Our adult choir provides musical leadership and offerings at the 10:45 a.m. Parish Liturgy and the other principal liturgies of the year. Professional section leaders make it easy for anyone with a joyful heart and a tuneful ear to make music. Rehearsals are held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Sundays.
TREBLE CHOIR
Children in grades 3 and up have the opportunity to train as liturgical music ministers in the Shrine Treble Choir. The choir leads the music of the Liturgy on various Sundays and holy days of the year, including Christ the King, Immaculate Conception, Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Pentecost and Corpus Christi . In order to ensure that the choir is appropriately prepared, choir members are asked to attend two of four regularly scheduled weekly rehearsal opportunities. Rehearsals are scheduled according to the availability of the members of the choir.
SUMMER CHOIR
From the Sunday after Corpus Christi to Labor Day weekend, all singers of all ages and abilities are invited to meet at 9:30 am in the undercroft Choir Room (accessible via the northeast and southeast vestibules) to rehearse the hymns, songs and chants of the day to be offered at the 10:45 am Parish Liturgy. Participation in the Summer Choir is an excellent way to “try out” the experience of choral singing at Shrine, and often leads to an interest in participation in one of our other choirs.
VIGIL OF SUNDAY BAND
The music of our Saturday 6:30 p.m. Mass is led by an eclectic group of instrumentalists and singers. All volunteer musicians are welcome to join in the music making. Rehearsal precedes the liturgy at 5:30 p.m.
HANDBELL CHOIR
Music-readers of all ages who have good rhythm are sought for our handbell choir, which presents musical offerings and liturgical leadership at various times during the year. The Shrine Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm .
RESURRECTION CHOIR
The Resurrection Choir ministers through prayer and music at parish funerals. Members are notified by telephone when they are needed to offer prayers and song at a parish funeral Mass.
