In the five years subsequent to the Capital Campaign Phase I, success can be viewed in the fund commitments, administrative structure changes and the facility construction and improvements that have taken place at the three campuses. Over 4,200 registered parish families of the National Shrine of the Little Flower were contacted and invited to take part in the expansion and renovation. Over 1,300 families made a financial commitment to The Campaign for the National Shrine of the Little Flower. Additional friends, alumni and community patrons committed their financial resources to improvement and expansion of the National Shrine of the Little Flower facilities. To date, in excess of $5.9 million dollars have been pledged, with collections through December 31, 2007 exceeding $5 million dollars. These funds have allowed the Master Plan Oversight Committee to move forward with the construction and expansion plans outlined in the Master Plan. The first component of the Master Plan facilities enhancement opened on August 22, 2007, and was formally dedicated on October 5, 2007. While Heritage Hall fulfills its functional role of connecting the Church to the parish offices, Adoration Chapel, gift shop, parking lot and providing barrier free access to the Church, it also symbolically connects the past to the future. Historical artifacts and the narrative description of the parish’s history can be found throughout Heritage Hall. Visitors to the National Shrine of the Little Flower can experience the connection of the parish past to the future, by witnessing what the strength of the combined National Shrine community can accomplish in the beauty and functionality of Heritage Hall.
