When an adult is seeking baptism, they go through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA. RCIA is a program for people who’d like to become Catholic, who after learning about the faith, are initiated into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.
RCIA candidates typically enter into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil in front of the parish community.
If you’re interested or would like to learn more, please contact Ann Ferguson and Amy Wyss at rcia@shrinechurch.com.
All requests for baptismal records must be done in writing and may only be requested by the parent or individual. These can be dropped off at the parish office.
Records for genealogical purposes that are open to research are available at the Burton Historical Collection at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library.
